Whether you’re a small organization having growing pains, or an established organization looking to replace outdated systems or improve integration, our team of master problem-solvers will listen with care, and present suggestions for discussion. From there, as ideas evolve into reality, Rocket Farm will be your escort.
Analysis... Business, Systems, and Data
Invite the Rocket Farm team behind the curtain. Whether you need something new, or something you have is just not cutting it, let us talk with you and look around, take some measurements. We have great experience guiding organizations through this phase.
From understanding the requirements, we start with roughing in a solution. As we continue to discuss, revise and refine, we fill in the details of the “look and feel”. We typically follow an agile approach where we agree on the “rough” design, begin development and demonstrate pieces of functionality as they’re built. So Design and Development are iterative, what we call Agile.
This is the blending of science and art, and here we strive for “elegance”. When you get the foundation right, the rest is easy. In a new system design the database design is usually one of the most important pieces. Here we make lots of drawings, with boxes and lines to look at while we have discussions and go through lots of coffee. We discuss processes, human interactions, system interactions, and accommodate all into the architectural plans.
Development and Deployment
This is the “make it happen” piece. Where the sketch becomes life. Often times, with an agile approach, in development we mix in regular demonstrations of working functionality with reviews and make adjustments to the design. You get to see as the foundation is poured, as the framing goes up, where you say, “Can we make the hallway a little wider?”. Then comes “cutting the ribbon” and stepping across the threshold. We’ll be with you the whole way.
Sometimes what you need is just for your system to talk to “that other” system. Sometimes this is easy, but most often, it requires a good bit of creativity, as systems are frequently built in entirely different universes. One system speaks binary with a polled protocol and the other needs to see periodic JSON XML totals. You need a smart integration component.
We can provide as much or as little support as you require. Typically we turn over operations and administration to the client staff. If you have critical processes running at 3:00 am and need our coverage, that can be arranged. If you want a plan for enhancements quarterly, we can work to fit your needs.
We illustrate here just three of our many recent projects:
E-commerce Lottery Players Website/Platform
2011 - Mexico
The Rocket Farm team designed and implemented a player’s website for an operator of an existing “closed network” national lottery system for all of Mexico with 5,000 retailer sales locations (Televisa SA, Apuestas Internacionales SA). This “app” allowed players to purchase tickets real-time on the gaming system, manage their winnings and wallet, be notified on draws and wins, and report on history.
- Interface with banking systems for credit/debit card transactions
- Interface with Black Hawk gift cards
- Interface with DineroMail (largest payment provider in Latin America)
- Interfaced with operator’s in-house accounting systems
- Developed a custom CMS (Content Management System) to allow operator’s marketing staff to update real-time professional soccer stores, experts prediction on matches, copy and artwork on website
- Online Chat Help Desk Support
- Integrated with Twitter to allow outbound and inbound Twitter conversations with players and operator staff
B2B POS Integration between Lottery and Major National C-Store Chain
2014 - Mexico
Rocket Farm worked with OXXO (18,000 locations) in Mexico to enable their Windows-based POS cash register terminals in their stores to sell and cash tickets from the lottery. Rocket Farm defined the protocol, implemented the Lottery System connection, and managed the testing, launch and support.
Tablet App for Convenience Stores Chain Management
2017 – U.S.
Rocket Farm developed a mobile/tablet app for convenience stores and their chains to streamline end-of-shift lottery reconciliation to save time, identify shrinkage, provide immediate reporting to chain management with alerts and analytics. Shrank time required per shift from 25 minutes to 5 minutes and increased accuracy and availability of data. Incorporated hand-held scanner into app for scanning instant tickets at end-of-shift. Optimized for both iPad and Android tablets.
Provided a reporting website for chain management to administer and access real-time accounting and alerts data on the chain stores.
Ran a pilot across multiple states for 18 months, providing service to 25 stores in a single convenience store chain.
